Inga Knudson, AMFT
Registered Associate MFT under supervision by Lena Axelsson, LMFT # 47915
Inga received her graduate degree from the University of San Francisco in Counseling Psychology and her bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Santa Cruz in Feminist Studies. Both universities emphasize a systems-thinking approach which has traveled with her into her psychotherapy practice. Systems thinking paints a fuller picture of how we navigate the world within and around us. In psychology this is known as a bio-psycho-spiritual-social approach to therapy This means we explore what it means to be you from multiple lenses.
She is also an Intermediate II student of Somatic Experiencing, a body-based trauma resolution therapy developed by Dr. Peter Levine. In sessions, she tends to both the micro and the macro and the in-between; what we experience in our bodies in the moment, how do we locate ourselves in society, in relationship to self and other and the meaning we make of ourselves and the systems we are a part of (family, social, work, school, religious).
Inga often works with people who have lived, or are living, through overwhelming (aka traumatic) life experiences. Many of whom experience symptoms of depression and/or anxiety and have relationship concerns. Somatic Experiencing provides a framework for learning about your nervous system and how we can co-create a more harmonious state of being.
