Shangfen believes therapy is a collaborative process in which clients feel heard, understood, and supported as they work through challenges and toward meaningful change. She strives to create a warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where clients can comfortably explore their emotions, relationships, and life experiences.
Her approach is person-centered and tailored to each client's unique needs. Drawing on both evidence-based and experiential methods, she helps clients build self-awareness, understand emotional patterns, strengthen coping skills, and develop healthier relationships. Shangfen is especially interested in supporting people experiencing anxiety, stress, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and challenges with emotional expression.
She enjoys working with children, adolescents, adults, and couples, and values understanding each client within their cultural, family, and relational context. Shangfen offers therapy in both English and Mandarin Chinese.
Shangfen earned her M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University and her B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Davis. As an AMFT, she provides psychotherapy under clinical supervision.
